A Light Awake Inside is the debut solo album from acclaimed San Francisco performance artist, Vinsantos. Set in a ruddy wash of a modern day Barbary Coast, the album spins a tale of a shattered performer's struggle for recognition in a world filled with unrequited love, angst and desperation. All with unprecedented hope.
Recorded at Tiny Telephone Studios by Aaron Prellwitz on giant tapes run by a 1976 Neve console, there is a reminiscence of the concept albums of that era. The sound is best described as ghostly glam cabaret. At the helm of the production stands post punk icon, David J. Broken pianos, orchestral drums, tainted guitars, stellar strings and the occasional lick of the sarod all lend to this unique endeavor. The album features guest appearances by David J and alternative music luminary Jarboe. A Light Awake Inside is rich, cinematic, and destined for longevity.
